  • User management

I intermittently see the following response when trying to update user information by editing the config xml file and importing new/updated user instances.

<message>ERROR: Admin privilege is required to manage users.</message>

Even when I'm logged in as the admin. Can you please help with this?

Secondly, are only admin users are allowed to upload config xml files? How can a non-admin user update his/her password?

If you can capture the error in Wireshark when it happens, please contact your local Lantronix Field Applications Engineer for help with debugging the issue.

As for changing user roles and passwords, only an admin can do that.

I was able to fix the first error.

For the part where we want a user to be able to update his/her password, it seems rather complicated to involve an admin every time a change is needed.

It would really help if it would be possible on Lantrox's side to provide "User" roles to update their passwords. Can you please check if this is possible?

Additionally, we are running into space issues on the wifi module. Many parts of the web server like Clock, Diagnostics etc are not used by us but do take up memory space. Can we configure these settings somewhere? Or, can we use the sd card to store files and read it from there on startup instead? If, yes, how?

There isn't the capability for each user to be able to change their password independently, as the password is part of the configuration file. If a user can change the configuration file, they can change all the configuration items, including their own password and the password of other users (and the admin password).

The configuration management pages are built into the firmware image, which uses a separate area of flash than the filesystem where you store your files.

One thing that you can do is gzip your files and store them as .gz. The web server will automatically serve them compressed when a request comes in, and the browser de-compresses them.

There is no SD card interface on the xPico Wi-Fi.
