  • Release 4 Beta version 1.4.0.0B17

Here's our first Beta version for Release 4!

This release adds a lot of very useful features. Almost too many to list, but let's try:
    - USB RNDIS support (see here: http://wiki.lantronix.com/developer/XPicoWiFi/Usb)
    - Direct Web to Serial when you select None as the serial protocol (see here: http://wiki.lantronix.com/developer/...WebAPItoDevice)
    - UDP Tunnel
    - UDP Mux connections
    - Ability to terminate Mux "receive" when no more data available instead of waiting indefinitely for number of bytes specified (see [.] option in the attached Mux Command Reference)
    - Specify the local port on Mux connect command
    - Discovery protocol now respnods on both wlan0 and ap0 interfaces
    - "wlan connect" added to CLI, in case you want to manage wlan0 connectivity from an attached microcontroller instead of WLAN Profiles doing it
    - Ability to append to files in the file system from CLI
    - Lots of bug fixes

Do keep in mind that this is a Beta version and we're still working on bug fixes towards 1.4 release. Any feedback is appreciated.

    Hi,

Is UDP tunnel already enabled in this beta?
I updated my xpico device to this firmware but I am not able to see UDP in the Tunnel protocol selection. It only shows TCP and TCP AES.

    Thanks and Regards,
    Jason

      Hi Jason,

Yes, UDP Tunnel is enabled. If you want to "listen" for incoming UDP connections, the configuration is in the Connect tab, rather than the Accept tab.

See this picture for how to configure:

      UDP Tunnel.jpg

If you're listening instead of outbound, then what you do is set the host to wlan0 or ap0, depending on whether you're expecting the connection on the Station or SoftAP interface, and set the Local Port.

Since this is a Beta the User Guide is not updated yet, but you can mouse over the different fields there, and see the help information on the right to see what each field does.

Make sure you have the "Reception" set correctly if you expect data from multiple devices to come in.

I had an issue with even parity (8,E,1) on the serial to network tunnel mode in firmware 1.3.0.1R4. 0x00 serial data was causing break conditions and were not getting through. I narrowed it down to a possible data width (M bit) setting in the USART of the xPico WiFi's STM32F2xx. Tech support eventually pointed me over here. I tried 1.4.0.0B17 and it now appears to work, thanks!

Any idea when to expect the next official full firmware release?

          Cheers!
          Tim

            Tim,

I don't know when Release 4 will go to production, but my suggestion is to test with the Beta image that works for you, and then use a programming step at the end of your production line to freeze the firmware to the version that you have tested.

You can run a script to update firmware like this:
            Code:
            #
            # Example script for xPicoWifi OTA firmware upgrade
            #
            curl -u admin:PASSWORD -X POST -d "group=Device&action=Firmware Upload" http://<hostname>/action/status

            # The system will take some time to reboot and start the OTA firmware

            curl ?X POST -F datafile=@xPicoWifi_1.4.0.0B17.rom http://<hostname>/upgrade
            curl -X POST http://<hostname>/reboot

              Hi Mariano,

Might it be possible to have the release note including the bug fixes of this last release?

              Regards
