Announcing Linux SDK 2.0.0.3 Release

  • Announcing Linux SDK 2.0.0.3 Release

    Linux SDK 2.0.0.3 Release is available now. It is an incremental release to 2.0.0.2

    The ISO Image and the VMWare Image are available via FTP at:
    ftp://ftp.lantronix.com/pub/Linux_SDK/SDK2_0_0_3/

    It supports the following platforms:
    • XPort Pro (16 MB RAM)
    • XPort Pro (8MB RAM) - being replaced by 16 MB RAM version
    • MatchPort AR
    • EDS1100
    • EDS2100


    The high level features of this release are as follows:
    • net-snmp updates
    • SSH session initiation time speedup
    • Busybox wget --post-file option
    • Bug Fixes


    Please be aware that this SDK can only be used on a x86 Linux Host machine. It was not validated on any 64 bit distributions.

    All documentation can be found in the Documentation folder on the CD/mounted ISO image.

    The SDK release and includes the following:
    • SDK User Guide
    • SDK Quick Start Guide
    • uClinux based SDK
    • Cross compilation tools for x86 Linux
    • Sample applications

    Unable to connect to ft-server

    I'm unable to get Linux SDK 2.0.0.3 release from the ftp-server. When trying to log in (as anonymous) I get "Connection closed by server"

    The complete log is:
    Status: Resolving address of ftp.lantronix.com
    Status: Connecting to 207.38.104.13:21...
    Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message...
    Error: Connection closed by server
    Error: Could not connect to server

      If you can't FTP (for example, your ISP doesn't support reverse DNS lookups), you can use HTTP to download the file:

      http://www.lantronix.com/ftp/Linux_S...dk_2_0_0_3.iso

        Root password for Ubuntu VMWare image

        Can you tell me what the root password is for the Ubuntu VMWare image included in this release?

            Port to Windows and VisualGDB

            I would like to port the tools to Windows and Visual GDB

            Are there any helpful hints on how to do this?

            Where can I find the sources?

            Is it at uclinux.org in the the m68k-uclinux area?

              Hi dear,
              I am a new user. I tried to start the VM, but the player does not find an Operating System.
              I am using VMware Player for Linux (last version) and my host machine is kubuntu - 64-bit.

                error: "Cannot build host tools"
                I mounted the SDK iso file, then confirmed the mount. After that per instructions ran from the install directory: /install.sh ....
                All the messages (and my responses are per your instructions)... but the install does not complete and ends with this error message (Cannot build host tools).



                Below are the last few lines of the install log:

                I am running with Ubuntu 14.04LTS 64 bit
                The missing "cmake-2.8.0/bin/ccmake" in the log file; does that give a clue?

                Although the SDK install was not completed, I do see the following folders in the install directory: host, hostsrc, toolchains and the file: .install.log

                Need your guidance on how to proceed.
                NEW INFO:
                I have made progress: I was able to tell the SDK where the curses library and header were (fix in the FindCursor file); so now the SDK builds and also I am able to connect over the serial port to dBug boot loader.
                The problem I have is that to down load binaries to the XportPro I cannot "make" the image. I run "sudo make config" and select the defaults. Then I run "sudo make", but it seems there is a problem in building the 2.6.x kernel. I piped the output of the make command to a file, but I do not see a way immediately to attach that file... but basically make[1] is saying cannot find m68-uclinux-gcc: command not found

                make[1]: *** [scripts] Error 1

                Some help would be greatly appreciated

                Useable update:

                I have finally been able to install the SDK on a linux host, build a new application, load to the XportPro and run it. Below are the fixes that I had to make:
                You need to use a 32 bit environment on your linux host.
                Ubuntu12.04LTS is your best bet
                The SDK did not install without problems, because it could not find the curses library; fix: I found the ncurses library on my system and in the FindCurses.cmake (at:hostsrc/Cmake/Cmake-2.8.0/Modules); just before the FindPackage function: FIND_PACKAGE_HANDLE_STANDARD_ARGS(Curses DEFAULT_MSG
                CURSES_LIBRARY CURSES_INCLUDE_PATH), I set the CURSES_LIBRARY and CURSES_INCLUDE_PATH to the location of the nucurses library and header file ncurses.h respectively (that I had found manually!)
                With this the SDK installed without any more problems.

                When building a program, the build was not successful because jffs2 could not be installed, because the location in (target)
                romfs:
                @jffs2.sh .......
                although set in the environment had been overridden, somewhere before this step. So I simply added "-e" option at the start of this line:
                romfs:
                @ -e jffs2.sh
                to re-establish the environmental setting.

                With these changes, the application built correctly (Important: you need to source the env_m68k-uclinux Before you run make.... this is the step that sets up all the correct environment variables).

                  Need two serial connections on XportPro

                  I need two serial connections to XportPro, running linux; one as a terminal to the OS, and a second to connect to another board via serial. It seems there is only one port available. How do I meet the two needs?
                  Any suggestions would be welcome

                    Maybe you could check our newer product, Premier Wave 2050, which also runs at Linux with two serial ports and Ethernet.
